We pursue partnership in order to continue to serve the communities in which we operate in Colombia as well as to bring projects to other areas troubled by poverty and violence. Partnership comes in the form of financial support as well as the volunteering of skills and expertise.

Support our work

When it comes to financial support, we deliver donations directly to the targeted recipients of either the Yukpa community or the Colegio Filadelfia. In supporting the Yukpa community financially, we ensure that donations are used to launch new initiatives or build existing programs so that they are ultimately self-sufficient, rather than creating a cycle of dependence and continued poverty. The Yukpa leaders are engaged directly in the use and management of these funds so that the value is fully understood and planning skills are developed.

Volunteering

We also welcome volunteers for our current projects which continue to need on-site support. We embrace skills in community development, conflict resolution and negotiation as well as a mindset of service, compassion, respect for the individual, and belief in the potential of children. We intend to increase our impact and multiply successful pilots with other actors in other sectors and countries with similar characteristics of poverty and past conflict. Our view is that volunteering work should become an enriching experience for both sides, with opportunities for mutual learning and mutual benefits. The community acquires new skills or improves existing talents, and practices them through business development, collaboration, teamwork and discipline. Volunteers, on the other hand, learn new skills in teaching and training, as well as gain new perspectives on other societies and cultures. We believe that volunteering enables one to become a richer human being and are proud to create meaningful experiences based on valuing differences and generating respect.

Through this exchange you will be able to experience either an indigenous culture with rich traditions and history, or a disadvantaged urban community in need of hands-on support, while also giving of your own talents and skills to help them maintain their independence and livelihood.
