Our focus

Currently our work in Colombia the Phebe Children have a three-pronged focus:

Peace education programs.

The heart of our peace education approach is teaching children to build and care for their relationships. 

Building a school and providing for the Yukpa community.
Impacting Yukpa women through jobs.

Our advantage

We do peace education research.

In our work, we bring expert knowledge and a science-backed approach to peace education, violence reduction and conflict resolution and integrate it with a humanistic approach based on respect, recognition and dignity.

All of our activities are based on a fundamental belief in the value of peace education and what it can bring in terms of violence reduction and conflict resolution, ultimately building communities that are economically successful and self-sufficient is part of our program goals. We believe that children have the ability to promote peace and that by focusing on children in impoverished and conflict driven and violent communities we can empower individuals and groups to taste peace learning to feel and show respect to each other and stimulating collaboration among them. They will learn that it is possible and build safe and peaceful communities for their present and their children’s future.

We at Phebe Children are committed to teaching about peace and negotiation as a strong form of conflict resolution to children living in violent environments and impoverished conditions.

Teaching children peace values and negotiation competencies in a spirit of respect and dignity we are contributing to building communities that are safe and peaceful. We also provide training to empower families become more peaceful and economically self-sufficient.

Peace education is fundamental but just one aspect of our work with children and their families — we take a holistic, stepwise and flexible approach to address critical immediate issues and enable an environment conducive to peace education. This multi-dimensional approach is equally reflected in the name which is also an acronym for Peace, Health, Education and Business Equipping.
